'Rapid Response' Movie Showing During PRI Show
Thursday, December 12 • 7:00 PM - 8:40 PM
Location: Regal UA Circle Centre Theater
"RAPID RESPONSE" Exclusive Movie Screening During PRI
PRI attendees will have the opportunity to view an extraordinary documentary film, "Rapid Response," based on Dr. Stephen Olvey’s book of the same name, which explores the history of motorsports safety during some of its most fatal years. It follows how racing safety has evolved, giving us today’s safer cars, driver equipment, tracks, and medical response. Mario Andretti, Bobby Unser, Rick Mears and other drivers add their own candid comments about the dangers they faced, and changes they have seen through the decades.
Highlighted are the extraordinary skills of the on-track safety teams and Methodist Hospital doctors including Dr. Stephen Olvey, former Medical Director of CART and emergency response innovator, and Dr. Terry Trammell, Orthopedic Surgeon, both of whom are well known for saving the lives, and careers, of so many drivers.
Driver safety has always been an important part of the PRI Show, with its many safety equipment company exhibitors, and the numerous meetings and seminars on safety topics held during the week, including the prestigious International Council of Motorsport Sciences’ Annual Congress.
A special viewing of this film on the big screen is made possible through the efforts of PRI and the Stand 21 Safety Foundation, in conjunction with the movie’s producers, Roger Hinze and Michael Miles.
The limited-seating showing will take place on Thursday evening, December 12, at 7:30 p.m. The movie will be followed by a question and answer panel session with Dr. Stephen Olvey and Dr. Terry Trammell, moderated by John Waraniak, SEMA’s VP of Vehicle Technology, and Don Taylor, Director of the Stand 21 Safety Foundation. The showing will take place at the Regal UA Circle Centre Theater, a short indoor walk from the Convention Center.
Purchasing tickets as soon as possible is recommended, as seating for the one-time showing is expected to sell out. Tickets can be purchased on the theater’s website here.
In addition, in a free Racing Goes Safer seminar session at PRI on Friday, Dr. Stephen Olvey will discuss more experiences from his long career, as featured in his book on Friday, December 13, 12:30-1:30PM, Room 239.
